Leveraging multifunctional urban nature through spatial planning: the UNPplus Spatial Planning Scheme

This webinar will address the critical role that Spatial Planning and management instruments can play for climate resilience and nature positive development particularly under the Nature Restoration Regulation and in view of the New European Climate Adaptation Plan.
Participants will hear from representatives of the UNPplus Project about the Spatial Planning Scheme as a tool for mainstreaming multifunctional urban nature and biodiversity in spatial planning, particularly statutory instruments. Also successful practices of adaptive planning in Glasgow and Mannheim will be shared. Participants will engage in interactive discussions around (to be decided).
For example: organisational issues around governance and distributions of powers, procedural issues such as methodologies and tools for integrating urban nature into planning decisions, monitoring for adaptive planning, flexibility of planning instruments to mainstream climate and nature restoration goals, etc. and normative issues around specific mechanisms for incorporating urban nature into planning rules and regulations.
The UNP+ project brings together cities and partners from across Europe to advance urban nature plans. The Capacity Building Programme (CBP) complements this work by sharing lessons, tools and examples. This webinar is one activity, alongside more than 30 short briefs and additional resources.
The webinar will be hosted by members of the UNP+ project team.
