Framework for Urban Insetting Protocols

Project Deliverable UPSURGE

(1) the general Regenerative Insetting Protocol Framework, which defines the methodological structure and assessment logic; and

(2) seven city-specific Urban Insetting Protocols, which apply the framework to local contexts and provide tailored policy action plans based on each city’s Regenerative Index results.

The deliverable encompasses seven thematic areas critical to assessing and restoring urban environments. By integrating diverse elements, ranging from air quality to gender sensitivity, the Urban Insetting Protocols are intended to not only address existing environmental issues but also to prevent future challenges, all the while fostering community engagement and promoting the longevity of natural resources. In shaping sustainable urban futures, the deliverable outlines a holistic approach to nature restoration, emphasising the interplay between human society and the natural world and underscoring the shared responsibility for cultivating a resilient, balanced environment.
