Financing urban nature is essential to achieving Europe's biodiversity and climate goals, but public funding alone is not enough.

This webinar explores innovative financing mechanisms that help cities unlock investment for nature-based solutions and Urban Nature Plans (UNPs), with practical examples from across Europe.

The session introduces the policy context and funding landscape for urban nature, highlighting the growing need to diversify financing sources beyond traditional public budgets. It showcases real-world experiences from cities using tools such as green bonds, public-private partnerships, tourism revenues, philanthropy, and corporate engagement to fund biodiversity and urban greening initiatives.

Featured speakers include representatives from the City of Paris, City of Poznań, City of Barcelona, and City of Aarhus, who share lessons learned, challenges, and practical advice on mobilising finance for nature. The discussion is complemented by insights from Dr. Filipe Araujo (Trinity College Dublin) on nature financing and is moderated by Siobhán McQuade (Trinity College Dublin / Horizon Nua).

This webinar is jointly organised by the Urban Nature Plans+ and Invest4Nature projects and forms part of the Capacity Building Programme on Urban Nature Plans (UNPs).
