Urban nature planning is now a policy requirement under EU frameworks like the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and the Nature Restoration Regulation. Cities are central to delivering these goals.

This webinar introduces the Spatial Planning Scheme (SPS), a practical tool that helps cities integrate biodiversity into spatial planning and turn policy into action. It covers key principles, multi-scale planning, and simple operational steps to move from strategy to implementation in Urban Nature Plans.

The key input is provided by Professor Alessandro Deserti (Polytechnic University of Milan), following a discussion with city representatives Gillian Dick (City Council of Glasgow) and Frida Brett-Smith (City of Mannheim). The discussion is moderated by Professor Kes McCormick (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences), Professor of Business Development and Sustainable Innovation. This webinar is part of the Capacity Building Programme on Urban Nature Plans (UNPs).
