Spatial planning for leveraging multifunctional urban nature: UNPplus Spatial Planning Scheme SPS

UNP webinar Spatial planning event card

This webinar will address the critical role that Spatial Planning and management instruments can play for climate resilience and nature positive development particularly under the Nature Restoration Regulation and in view of the New European Climate Adaptation Plan.

Participants will hear from representatives of the UNPplus Project  about the Spatial Planning Scheme as a tool for mainstreaming multifunctional urban nature and biodiversity in spatial planning, particularly statutory instruments. Also successful practices of adaptive planning in Glasgow and Mannheim will be shared. Participants will engage in interactive discussions around (to be decided). For example: organizational issues around governance and distributions of powers, procedural issues such as methodologies and tools for integrating urban nature into planning decisions, monitoring for adaptive planning, flexibility of planning instruments to mainstream climate and nature restoration goals, etc. and normative issues around specific mechanisms for incorporating urban nature into planning rules and regulations.
